Boats Homed Safely

Boats Homed Safely

This photo was originally shot on film, after it was scanned the  contrast and exposure were adjusted.

I find harbors, wharves, and docks fascinating places to take photographs. There is always a  mood  or aura, whether it’s busy preparing to leave port or returning or when the sailors are at work after the boats return.

Staging

Staging

This image was originally shot on Kodachrome 64. It was scanned in and then adjusted in Photoshop, saturation was increased and it was posterized. There always great pictures to take at any type of motor-sport. The colors are intense and lend themselves to various photographic techniques.  The pit-crew working on the cars make fantastic men at work pictures. The sounds and smells really give a boost to everyone’s energy and creative, especially the photographers.

Out Stretched Nude

Out Stretched Nude

This was also a digital Picture processed in Photoshop. The contrast was increased, the grain filter was used, then the levels were adjusted and finally the threshold tool was used.

If this would have been shot on film I would have developed in Dynafine because of it’s distinct grain. Then I would have printed onto lithography film and developed in the appropriated chemistry which would have given me a positive, then I would make a contact print of my positive  to give me a negative and finally printed it on the highest contrast paper I had. As a second thought I might have scanned the positive and imported into Photoshop and converted it to a negative. Then I’ll make a giclee print on a natural white mat paper.
