Dancing Under an Evening Sky

Dancing Under an Evening Sky

A lone light was used, it  was placed to the left of the frame and between the camera and the model. This was done to get  directional lighting to create the shadow and texture. The model was moving and the camera was stationary. In this particular image the model is dancing  and expressing her freedom.

This is a digital image processed in Lightroom. Exposure and brightness were adjusted and the image was rendered to monochrome  via a Lightroom preset.

Reaching Out

Reaching Out

A single light was used, it  was placed to the left of the frame and between the camera and the model. This was done to get  directional lighting to create the deep shadows. Some grain was added for texture and the whole image was softened to make the image more abstract.

This is a digital image processed in Lightroom. Exposure and brightness were adjusted and the image was rendered to Black & White  via a global desaturation.

Into the Darkness

Into the Darkness

A lone light was used, it  was placed to the left of the frame and between the camera and the model. This was done to get  directional lighting to create the shadow and texture. The black back ground was used to give the impression that the model would be walking into darkness an euphemism for the unknown.

This is a digital image processed in Lightroom. Exposure and brightness were adjusted and the image was rendered to monochrome  via a Lightroom preset.

Trapped

Trapped

A solo light was used, it  was placed to the right of the frame and between the camera and the model. This was done to get  directional lighting to create the shadow and texture in the fabric. The model presses her face into the fabric distorting her features, showing her effort to escape.

This is a digital image processed in Lightroom. Exposure and brightness were adjusted and the image was rendered to monochrome  via a Lightroom preset.

Dancing with a Shadow

Dancing with a Shadow

A solo light was used, it  was placed to the right of the frame and between the camera and the model. This was done to get  directional lighting to create the shadow for the model to dance with. The lighting also shows off the musculature on the model’s back. I use the musculature to contrast with the single dimension of the shadow.

This is a digital image processed in Lightroom. Exposure and brightness were adjusted and the image was rendered to Black & White by globally desaturating the image,

Model in the White Room

Model in the White Room

A single  light was used, it  was placed to the right of the frame and in front of the model. This was done to get  directional lighting to create strong shadows and highlights and to accentuate the models musculature,

This is a digital image processed in Lightroom. Exposure and brightness were adjusted and the image was rendered to almost a monochrome  by selectively desaturating some color channels.

Arms in the Air

Arms in the Air

Look at this picture and see areas of light and shadow, and form, try not to see the model.

This is a digital photo processed in Lightroom. It was rendered to Black & White using a Lightroom preset then exposure and contrast were adjusted. The image was also cropped .

This was a one light setup, with the one light to the left of the frame. Barn doors were used to narrow the light’s spread and produce distinct shadows.

September 23, 2013….Day 161

Monument Valley is really breath taking. I try to go back every few years, the valley remains pretty much the same but my vision of it changes.

This is a digital photo. Processed in Lightroom. It was rendered to Black & White via a Lightroom preset then local contrast and exposure adjustments were made as well as some cropping.

On Safari

On Safari

This image was taken in the Bristle Cone Pine area on Mt. Evans. The day was overcast and bright, creating beautiful diffused light great for portraits. And having a fantastic model doesn’t hurt.

This was a digital image processed in Lightroom and then touched up in Portrait Professional.

September 21, 2013….Day 159

Lady Behind Cloth

Lady Behind Cloth

Two lights was used, one was placed to the right of the frame and in front the model. The second light was placed to the left of the frame and behind the model. This setup was used to create a three dimensional quality to the image and to partially wash out the background.

This is a digital image processed in Lightroom. Exposure and brightness were adjusted locally and the image was cropped.

The idea was to use a stretch fabric to hold the model prisoner, as she walks forward and the fabric pulls her back.
