April 30, 2018…Day 1697

Pinhole Nude on a Box

I wanted to create an image of a compressed nude in order to have many of the natural lines of the model crisscross. This was shot with a medium speed film and developed in a compensating developer. The image was taken with a very wide lens so the image was extremely small compared to size of the film.

One light was used, it was placed to the right of the frame and slightly to the side of the model.

The contrast and exposure was adjusted and the image was cropped using Lightroom.

February 3, 2018…Day 1614

Pinhole Nude

I find the pose a compressed form always interesting.

This image was shot on high speed film (120) with a homemade pinhole camera. The film was developed in Rodinal. The image is relatively grainy mostly because the image was from  only about 10% of the negative.

One light was used, it was placed to the right of the frame and slightly to the side of the model.

The contrast and exposure was adjusted and the image was cropped using Lightroom.

Stormy Sky

This image was taken at Sand Dunes National Park. The impetus for this image was the dramatic sky above the landscape. The next time I’m at Sand Dunes NP i’ll be working with a pinhole camera and folm.

This is a digital image processed in Lightroom. The contrast and exposure were adjusted and the image was cropped and rendered to a Black & White via Lightroom’s black & White sliders.

Nude; Shot on 35mm Film

This image is one taken for my series of isolation and alienation.

I shot this image on high speed 35mm film developed on Rodinal.

One light was used, it was placed to the left of the frame and slightly to the side of the model.

The contrast and exposure was adjusted and the image was cropped and rendered to Black & White using Lightroom’s Black & White sliders.

November 23, 2016…Day 1189

Pinhole Nude, Sitting

Pinhole Nude, Sitting

This image is from an ongoing series of images. I’m trying to see how much an image of a person can abstracted one way or another and still remain recognizable or where it starts to be unrecognizable.

This image was shot on a medium speed Black & White film and developed on caffenol.

One light was used, it was placed to the left of the frame and in front and off to the side. of the model.

The contrast and exposure was adjusted and the image was cropped and using Lightroom..

Sitting with Her Arm on Her Knee

Sitting with Her Arm on Her Knee

This image was taken with a homemade pinhole camera. The negative was shot on a medium speed film and developed in Rodinal. For more technical information about this image check out photographystop.wordpress.com

This image was designed to take advantage of negative space. The blurry image combined with the large area of darkness suggests loneliness.

One light was used, it was placed to the left of the frame and just about even with the model.

This image was processed in Lightroom.

I’ve been asked if my images are for sale, most are, please ask.

August 11, 2015…Day 770

Nude Sitting on a Bench

Nude Sitting on a Bench

This image was made with a pinhole camera on film.

This image is pretty much an accident. The model and lights were set up and the film was shot as I normally would, but the exposure or development time was off. This left me with an extremely thin negative with blown out highlights. I think trying to print this image in a wet darkroom would probably be impossible however the scanner being digital was able to give me this image.

Two lights were used, one on either side of the model and even with her.

July 25, 2015…Day 723

Ghostly Nude

Ghostly Nude

I was working with a pinhole camera when I took this picture. My idea was to create an ephemeral image that would be very ghost like.

One light was used, it was placed to the right  of the frame and just slightly in front of the model.

This photograph was shot with a medium speed film. The image was composed in a small area of the frame to emphasize the grain. The contrast and exposure were adjusted slightly and the image was severely cropped.

Nude with Her Hand in the Air...Taken with a Pinhole camera

Nude with Her Hand in the Air…Taken with a Pinhole camera

I decided to shoot this image with film in a pinhole camera. I used a grainy film and long exposure (15 seconds). This experiment was to create an abstracted image in the camera.

Two lights were used, one was placed on the left of the frame and one on the right of the frame. The light on the left was slightly in front of the model and the right was placed about even with the model but aimed slightly behind the model, This was done to illuminate the model’s right side and leave her left side in shadow except for a slight rim affect.

This image was shot on film and scanned into Lightroom. Exposure and brightness were adjusted well as a moderate amount of cropping.

December 29, 2014…Day 521

Nude

Nude

The idea for this image was to isolate the model in time and space by using a pinhole camera and using a black background. For this image the model had to remain virtually motionless for 15 seconds.

This was shot with a homemade pinhole camera. This image is not very sharp as characteristic of pinhole cameras however the three dimensionality  and tonality of the image are surprising.

One light was used, one was placed to the right of the frame and to the side of the model.

This image was shot on Ilford Delta 3200 120 film and developed Rodinal Diluted to 1+50. The negative was scanned into Lightroom where it was cropped .
