Sitting with Her Arm on Her Knee

Sitting with Her Arm on Her Knee

This image was taken with a homemade pinhole camera. The negative was shot on a medium speed film and developed in Rodinal. For more technical information about this image check out photographystop.wordpress.com

This image was designed to take advantage of negative space. The blurry image combined with the large area of darkness suggests loneliness.

One light was used, it was placed to the left of the frame and just about even with the model.

This image was processed in Lightroom.

I’ve been asked if my images are for sale, most are, please ask.

Model with Tulle

Model with Tulle

Don’t look at this image as a model, look at the shadows and high lights as elements of an abstract.

A single light was used, it  was placed to the left of the frame and between the camera and the model. This was done to get  directional lighting to create the deep shadows. Tulle was and added interest in the abstract.

This is a digital image processed in Lightroom. Exposure and brightness were adjusted and the image was rendered to Black & White  via a global desaturation.

Into the Darkness

Into the Darkness

A lone light was used, it  was placed to the left of the frame and between the camera and the model. This was done to get  directional lighting to create the shadow and texture. The black back ground was used to give the impression that the model would be walking into darkness an euphemism for the unknown.

This is a digital image processed in Lightroom. Exposure and brightness were adjusted and the image was rendered to monochrome  via a Lightroom preset.

Trapped

Trapped

A solo light was used, it  was placed to the right of the frame and between the camera and the model. This was done to get  directional lighting to create the shadow and texture in the fabric. The model presses her face into the fabric distorting her features, showing her effort to escape.

This is a digital image processed in Lightroom. Exposure and brightness were adjusted and the image was rendered to monochrome  via a Lightroom preset.

Dancing with a Shadow

Dancing with a Shadow

A solo light was used, it  was placed to the right of the frame and between the camera and the model. This was done to get  directional lighting to create the shadow for the model to dance with. The lighting also shows off the musculature on the model’s back. I use the musculature to contrast with the single dimension of the shadow.

This is a digital image processed in Lightroom. Exposure and brightness were adjusted and the image was rendered to Black & White by globally desaturating the image,
